Understanding What’s Going On Is Often the First Step
Sometimes people come to us with a specific question. They have wondered about ADHD for years, are considering whether they may be autistic, or want to better understand a learning difference that has followed them into adulthood.
Other times, the question is less defined.
You may be having difficulty with attention, organization, memory, learning, mood, or everyday functioning and aren't sure how the pieces fit together. You may even have tried different forms of support without feeling like you've gotten a complete answer.
Our work is about looking more closely.
Through neuropsychological testing, brain mapping, and neurofeedback, we help people better understand patterns in cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and social functioning- and use that information to identify meaningful next steps.
Neuropsychological Testing, Brain Mapping & Neurofeedback
There are different ways to better understand how the brain is functioning. The right service depends on the questions you're asking and the information you're hoping to gain.
Neuropsychological Testing
Comprehensive testing can help clarify questions related to ADHD, autism, learning differences, mood, trauma, and other areas of cognitive and emotional functioning.
Available for adults ages 18+.
Brain Mapping
Brain mapping measures patterns of brain activity to identify areas that may be relatively over- or under-active and better understand current concerns.
Available for ages 13+.
Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback uses real-time feedback to train patterns of brain activity associated with attention, anxiety, mood, and other areas of everyday functioning.
Available for ages 13+ in Aurora.
Adult ADHD, Autism & Neuropsychological Evaluations in Oswego, IL
A neuropsychological evaluation isn't about finding a diagnosis simply for the sake of having a label. It's about gathering enough information to understand the larger picture.
Depending on the reason you're seeking testing, an evaluation may explore:
-
Attention, executive functioning, organization, working memory, impulsivity, and other patterns that may affect work, relationships, school, or daily life.
-
Social communication, sensory experiences, behavioral patterns, relationships, and other characteristics associated with autism spectrum disorder.
-
Reading, writing, memory, processing, and other cognitive skills that may help identify learning disorders such as dyslexia.
-
Anxiety and depression can affect concentration, memory, motivation, sleep, and everyday functioning. A comprehensive evaluation allows us to consider emotional and cognitive factors together.
-
Testing may also help clarify emotional, behavioral, and cognitive patterns associated with trauma and post-traumatic stress.
What to Expect From Neuropsychological Testing
Psychological testing can feel like a bit of an unknown if you've never gone through it before.
The process is designed to be thorough without being unnecessarily complicated. We'll begin by talking about what brought you in and what you're hoping to understand. From there, testing allows us to gather more objective information about different areas of functioning.
01. Telehealth Intake
We'll begin with a 30–60 minute telehealth appointment to discuss your history, current concerns, and the questions you would like the evaluation to help answer.
02. In-Person Testing
Neuropsychological testing is completed in person and typically takes place across two sessions of approximately two to three hours each.
03. Feedback & Recommendations
We’ll meet again by telehealth for 30–60 minutes to review your results, answer your questions, and discuss recommendations based on what we learned during the evaluation. You’ll also receive a comprehensive written report summarizing your results and recommendations.
The goal is not for you to leave with a report full of clinical language and no idea what to do with it. You should understand what we found and how that information applies to your life.
